The USAA Urban Superintendents’ Academy is a one-week, intense academic program designed for the superintendent who is overwhelmed with the day-to-day details of being a manager, policeman, and instructional innovator. The Academy offers 30-40 scholarships each summer to members of the Association who qualify. The settings for the Academy are selected to assure that there will not be distractions to the learning process which is academically demanding.
The USAA National conference is one of the highlights of our professional development opportunities. It includes stimulating speakers, relevant field trips, and the opportunity for our members to network with the most knowledgeable people in urban education. The Conference is a four-day symposium that also features practicing superintendents and what works for them in their districts.
