Dr. Earl F. Metzler
Vice President of Educational Environments
Dr. Earl Metzler serves as the Vice President of Educational Environments at Hertz Furniture, bringing a wealth of experience from his extensive career in educational leadership. As an experienced educational executive consultant, he provides assistance to Superintendents, Principals, CFOs, and Facility Directors on how to maximize the effective and efficient use of resources to increase student achievement. And provides educational leaders with access to industry knowledge that drives better-informed decisions and delivers superior student outcomes.
Prior to joining Hertz Furniture, Dr. Metzler held several key positions. From 2012 to 2019, he led the Timberlane Regional and Hampstead School Districts in New Hampshire as Superintendent of Schools at SAU 55, overseeing significant improvements in academic programs and organizational accountability. Between 2007 and 2012, Dr. Metzler served as the principal of Quincy High School. From 1997 to 2007, he held the principal position at Quincy Middle School. Dr. Metzler's career began as a teacher at Quincy Middle School from 1987 to 1995, followed by his role as assistant principal from 1995 to 1997.
Dr. Metzler's academic credentials include a Doctor of Education (EdD) earned from Walden University, focusing on educational leadership. He obtained a Master of Education from Eastern Nazarene College and a Bachelor of Science from Bridgewater State College.
In addition to his degrees, Dr. Metzler has achieved notable certifications. He is a Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official (MCPPO), underscoring his proficiency in public procurement and contracting processes. Dr. Metzler was one of only four New England school superintendents accepted into the 2015-2017 American Association of School Administrators (AASA) National Superintendent Certification Program, focusing on sharpening the skills of successful superintendents, with emphasis on business skills, finance, board-superintendent relations, and crisis management. He completed this program in 2016, becoming the first superintendent in New Hampshire to do so.
Additionally, Dr. Metzler is a graduate of the Illinois Superintendents’ Preparation Academy, further enhancing his leadership capabilities.
Throughout his career, Dr. Metzler has been recognized for his leadership and contributions to education. In 2019, he was honored by the Plaistow Community YMCA with the Inspiring, Encouraging, Educating Award for his dedication to educational excellence.
During his tenure at SAU 55, Dr. Metzler received high marks from the school board, reflecting their growing confidence in his leadership year over year.
In 2017, he joined the Superintendents’ Environmental Education Collaborative (SEEC) as the New Hampshire state advocate, demonstrating his commitment to environmental education.
Dr. Metzler has contributed to educational discourse through various platforms. He was featured in an interview on the Master Leadership podcast, where he discussed his leadership philosophy and experiences in educational administration.
Additionally, he participated in the North Reading Public Schools Superintendent Finalist Interviews in 2019, sharing his vision for educational leadership.
