Susan joined Hertz Furniture in May 2022 as Director of Sales and Marketing, and was promoted to her current role in January 2024, where she continues to drive excellence in design and specification.

She collaborates closely with architects, designers, and project managers to ensure that educational and institutional spaces meet the highest standards of functionality, aesthetics, and ergonomic design.
Susan's passion lies in supporting design professionals to create educational spaces that directly impact student engagement, motivation, and learning outcomes. She works closely with Dr. Earl Metzler to provide a comprehensive approach to designing functional and engaging spaces. Together, they lead our professional development program, Space + Pedagogy Connect, a dynamic program designed for architects and school leaders to bridge the gap between learning strategies and environmental design, ensuring that furniture and space design support modern educational needs.
She specializes in educational furniture design, space planning, and FF&E procurement for schools and institutions. Her expertise in large-scale project solutions and installations, along with her collaborative approach with architects and designers, ensures that educational and institutional spaces meet the highest standards of functionality, aesthetics, and ergonomic design.
Outside of work, Susan enjoys spending time outdoors with friends and family, whether by the water or in the mountains of her home state of Maine.

Previously, Susan served as Director of Sales and Marketing at Hertz Furniture from May 2022 to January 2024, where she played a key role in driving growth and strengthening the company’s reputation as a leader in FF&E solutions. Her leadership in sales strategies and marketing initiatives contributed to the company’s expansion and enhanced its ability to offer project solutions and financing options tailored to client needs. Before joining Hertz Furniture, Susan held leadership positions at several well-respected organizations, including Director of Sales and Marketing and Regional Sales Manager at School Furnishings Inc., Contract Furniture Manager at W.B. Mason Company Inc., and Account Executive at MPX. She also built a strong foundation in sales and contract furniture management as a Sales Professional at Xpedx. Her extensive experience in sales, marketing, and project management continues to shape her success in delivering high-quality, functional, and cost-effective furniture solutions for schools and institutions.
