Hertz Furniture President Appears On Popular Lifetime TV Program

Saul Wagner, Hertz Furniture CEO, Explores Improving Learning with the Right Classroom Furniture

Mahwah, NJ (January 17, 2012) Saul Wagner, president of Hertz Furniture, appeared today on The Balancing Act, Lifetime Television’s popular morning show. The episode, “What Defines a Well-Designed Classroom,” focused on the impact of classroom furniture on the learning environment for students.

Mr. Wagner, an authority on educational ergonomics and classroom design, appeared with John Musso, Executive Director of the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) on the Balancing Act’s Parent Teacher Corner segment. Mr. Wagner and Mr. Musso agree that the right school furniture can facilitate learning and help children do better in school. Mr. Wagner said, “Our children spend eight hours each day in the classroom. If children are comfortable, they will learn better in that classroom.”

Danielle Knox, the program’s host, conducted the interview, which included an in-depth discussion of how the physical environment can encourage good behavior and optimum learning. A first step in planning a classroom is to determine the purpose for a particular classroom. How will it be used? Another factor to take into consideration when deciding what school furniture to purchase is the style of teaching that will be used. On the program, the audience had an opportunity to view several schools furnished by Hertz Furniture and see how innovative school furniture can change the learning environment.

Schools always have budget constraints, and the current economic situation puts additional pressure on school administrators. The discussion turned to how parents can help by making the school administration aware of what is important to them - for instance, ergonomic seating and green furniture products. Finally, voting for initiatives that fund education and provide extra money for schools is another thing that parents can do to help and make sure their voices are heard.

The episode can be viewed at HertzFurniture.com and will be re-broadcast on February 7 on the Lifetime Television network.
