Grandma Margaret's Hardwood Stool

So I’m just a grandma who retired in 2012 and downsized to a one-bedroom condo. But with eight grand-kids, I knew that I would often need extra seating available, but not big chairs that would take up a lot of space when not in use. As always, I began my search online and ended up at Hertz Furniture. What better idea than sturdy stools that are made to endure the abuse of school children day after day, year after year? I decided to order five of the hardwood stools.

Fast forward two years and we are once again preparing for another Thanksgiving dinner. Along with the regular dining chairs and a couple desk chairs, the five stools complete our seating requirements.

But what else do they do during the year?

Well, one is always in front of my parrot’s cage so that someone can sit to talk and play with her. At least one is always taken to the “library corner” when the grand-kids come over. Grandma Margaret's Hardwood Stool Next To CouchAt gift-opening time on birthdays, all five stools are dragged into use for comfortable “event seating.” One has a fairly constant place in the kitchen as a comfy spot for conversation with a grandchild at any given time. Three generally make their home on one side of the dining table as a quick place to plop down for brownie and cookie tasting. Two placed together are a handy suitcase bench for the occasional guest.

One makes a handy extra end table for snacks. You could actually climb on one to change a light-bulb in the ceiling fan (but of course that would be dangerous; children, don’t try this at home).

Grandma Margaret's Hardwood Stool by the Parrot CageI guess what I am trying to say is that these five stools were one of my very best furniture investments. They are so solid and well-made that, when the time comes, the next generation will be fighting over who gets them. Just thought you would want to know.
